GOD
God is very disappointed with Earth. He some how expected a higher level of enlightenment by this point, and is discouraged with the way humans treat each other. In fact, he's considering chucking the whole mess, and starting over. This is of great interest to the Devil, who loves destruction, and relishes in the possibility of God admitting failure. Still, God can't deny a special place in his heart for humankind, and decides that if one person can prove the world is worth saving, then he will. The Devil, while frustrated with this waffling, convinces God to let him pick this individual. God, ever the sport, agrees. They wander into a bar discussing this deal when the Devil spots Bob Alman sneaking a beer in the middle of his workday. The Devil's got his guy. |

BOB
Bob is just like the rest of us, except worse. He's not a great employee on the auto assembly line, he's not a great husband to his wife Donna, and he's out of touch when dealing with his two children Megan and Andy. He has the appearance of a full service grown up with all the trappings of adult life, but is at heart an adolescent who is oblivious to any sense of responsibility. Bob also has a real authority problem. He's not really comfortable with following orders, whether they are from his foreman at work or the Creator of the universe. But faced with his maker, who can split the Earth to its molten core, he tries to pay attention. |

God likes to send Bob on missions of random but symbolic good, be that reprimanding an adulterous neighbour or trying to clean up the amount of sex on TV. God's new relationship gives him a chance to enjoy the simple pleasures of life on Earth -- like Pop Tarts. |

The Devil
The Devil, along with his grovelling sidekick, Smeck, concentrate their efforts on Bob, hoping his corruption will lead to the triumph of evil. However, an eternity of failure has left the Devil ill-tempered; he's also melodramatic, and constantly paranoid that he's not receiving the respect he deserves. |

All of this intervention, divine and deviant, leaves Bob unable to enjoy his gloriously mediocre existence. Bob Alman, a man happiest lounging with a beer in his hand, is now caught between a God who wants him as his prophet, a Devil who wants him destroyed, and a society that thinks he's crazy. |
